Sunday Blessing: Fathers Day

Sunday Blessing: Fathers Day

I have been mulling this particular blessing over for a week now. I want to honor all fathers,  all men who have stepped in as fathers, and of course my own dad and my husband who in my humble opinion is the best there is.  I also want to honor our Heavenly Father whose love has shown us that freedom and grace and excellence are possible.  That is quite a bit for one blog.  In the end I found this blessing and felt it conveyed my heart and desires.  Thank you to the men in my life and in this world for stepping up, and out, for children of all ages everywhere.

What Is A Dad?

A dad is someone who
wants to catch you before you fall
but instead picks you up,
brushes you off,
and lets you try again.

A dad is someone who
wants to keep you from making mistakes
but instead lets you find your own way,
even though his heart breaks in silence
when you get hurt.

A dad is someone who
holds you when you cry,
scolds you when you break the rules,
shines with pride when you succeed,
and has faith in you even when you fail…
