Glass Art

I could not tell you when they started collecting glass. I am not sure what even draws them to it. It could be the colors, the difficulty, the real and the fantasy of your imagination brought to life in a solid form that you can hold. It could be my mom’s obsession with light, sunshine and open spaces. It might be my dad’s love of natural beauty, the way his scientific mind embraces the difficulty of what a glass artist must manipulate to bring a piece to life. It may just be they started with a small choice when they were young, and the tradition continued with bigger and more spectacular sculptures as they traveled through the years.

Whatever the reason, my parents have an amazing collection. I took the time to photograph the six largest and a few of the animal menagerie that I love the most. I share these with you. Who knows maybe it will spark a love and appreciation for glass art you did not realize you had.
